Sypnosis from Fremantle Press –
Alex is expecting a pretty boring summer. But when Mum takes her to visit her mysterious grandfather on his farm in Tasmania, weird things start to happen … Weirdest of all? Her grandfather’s pet alpacas … who can talk! When things go from strange to scary, Alex must use all her brains, brawn and bravery in order to survive the sinister forces threatening life as she knows it.
I received a copy of Alex and the Alpacas Save the World from Fremantle Press in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own.
This was such a fun, unique and altogether whimsical read, such a unique concept, unlike anything I’ve read before! I absolutely loved the quirkiness of the idea of talking alpacas, teaming up with our protagonist, who honestly has no idea that this summer will definitely be one to remember, quiet the step away from the mundane one she was expecting!
Alex and the Alpacas Save the World is completely engaging throughout, I definitely found it to be filled with twists throughout that I definitely wasn’t expecting! I really enjoyed the family dynamic throughout, too. Alex had such a lovely relationship with her Mum, I thought! Our main characters’ Grandfather definitely felt like an eccentric one too, it was certainly curious reading about why he was dead set on hoping that it would be Alex’s Uncle coming to help on the farm, rather than Alex and her Mum, but it was even more curious learning about the prophecy that engulfs Alex’s family and the repercussions of that, but it was absolutely awesome seeing Alex completely embrace the alpacas, working together to figure out how to defeat an evil spirit who’s rapidly awakening from a forest slumber!
Alex and the Alpacas Save the World felt like such a seamless, quick paced read! It sits at 224 pages and absolutely kept me enthralled and engaged throughout! I felt like it was quite action packed too, with many a twist and turn throughout that I definitely didn’t envisage! The friendships that bloomed along the way were completely lovely to read about too, though there were moments when I was like ‘Oh, Alex, you need to let your new friends help you! You don’t have to do this by yourself!’ but I do absolutely understand that she needed to learn that by herself! I completely loved seeing everyone band together and try and defeat the evil spirit!
Alex and The Alpacas Save The World is definitely a fun read for all ages, I’d say! There’s something in it for everyone, I think! It’s such a fun adventure throughout, it’ll definitely be a great read for the little ones that are getting into reading, or even just the young at heart!
