When the Bat’s away, the Cat will play. It’s time to see how many lives this cat really has. . . .
Two years after escaping Gotham City’s slums, Selina Kyle returns as the mysterious and wealthy Holly Vanderhees. She quickly discovers that with Batman off on a vital mission, Batwing is left to hold back the tide of notorious criminals. Gotham City is ripe for the taking.
Meanwhile, Luke Fox wants to prove he has what it takes to help people in his role as Batwing. He targets a new thief on the prowl who seems cleverer than most. She has teamed up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, and together they are wreaking havoc. This Catwoman may be Batwing’s undoing.
This was amazing! Such a fabulous, epic, badass novel featuring a sassy main character, Selina Kyle AKA CatWoman and featuring Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and many other beloved and famous faces from the DC Canon.
This had been one of my most anticipated releases for the year, and when it turned up on my doorstep I couldn’t resist diving in right away! Sarah J Maas is easily one of my favourite authors ever, and I had such high expectations for this book!
I loved every aspect of this book, I loved reading about Selina and I was pretty much a puddle of feelings from the very beginning, I swear I could feel how much Selina loved her sister, and how Emily was her driving force for everything she did, honestly, my heart! And I love how Maas gave us flashbacks into Selina’s life as an assassin in training, under some of the most notorious leaders. I felt like Maas’s writing was so visual and just stunning, I could picture Selina’s every actions and was on the edge of my seat throughout!
Especially when Luke Fox was brought into it! I love his character, his earnest want to do good in the world, his interactions with his parents, I could feel the love between him and his parents, and his passion for justice in the world! I felt myself sharing both Selina and Luke’s feelings as I was reading this book, I just couldn’t get enough of their characters!
Which definitley made for some exciting scenes between him and one Holly Vanderhees, and that’s all I’m going to say on that one because if you’ve read the book you’ll know what I mean or when you do, you’ll find out! I also loved the badass partnership between Selina, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, I feel like I could read all the books featuring these three getting up to mischief!
Overall, a stunning addition to the DC Icons series, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
