Goodreads Sypnosis:
The second installment in the epic Starbound trilogy introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers on two sides of a bloody war.
Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met.
Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the terraformed planet’s rebellious colonists, but she has her own reasons for hating the insurgents.
Rebellion is in Flynn’s blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make the inhospitable planets livable, with the promise of a better life for their children. But they never fulfilled their promise on Avon, and decades later, Flynn is leading the rebellion.
Desperate for any advantage in a bloody and unrelentingly war, Flynn does the only thing that makes sense when he and Lee cross paths: he returns to base with her as prisoner. But as his fellow rebels prepare to execute this tough-talking girl with nerves of steel, Flynn makes another choice that will change him forever. He and Lee escape the rebel base together, caught between two sides of a senseless war.
My Review:
Wow! What a book! This was utterly flawless and every moment was a mixture of joy and awe inspiring wonder! From character development to fabulous settings, addictive writing and everything in between, I couldn’t get enough of this book!
Initially, I loved Jubilee and Flynn’s characters, I felt so sad for both of them, for different reasons, and I hoped that they would both somehow be safe amongst the carnage, honestly what they had both gone through, my heart! I felt like I could connect with both characters very quickly, and throughout the story, I felt like I knew both characters so well! I loved learning more about them too, and the flashbacks that were written in between chapters were utterly feely and such a visual wonderous element!
Although, if I’m honest, I felt like this whole novel, much like it’s predecessor, was equally visual, for it felt like I was watching a big, vast epic movie in my mind as the story unfolded, and I couldn’t put it down! I have some other books on the go currently but I couldn’t stop reading This Shattered World!
Amie Kaufman has always been one of my favourite authors, and I definitely feel like Meagan Spooner is following! I loved her Hunted and I love her writing partnership with Amie! I feel like the book flows so perfectly well, they just write so flawlessly together, I can’t get enough! I love how effortlessly this book and the characters and events tied together from These Broken Stars, honestly I had some total fangirl moments!
More than anything, I love Lee and Flynn’s interactions! I felt like I could feel both of them so much, like their emotions were coming through the page, it was so feely and at times they definitely made me smile, others I just felt so sad for them! There were moments throughout this book where I repeatedly exclaimed what?! for I couldn’t believe what had happened, it was so intense at times and definitely addictive all the way throughout with such fast paced writing, where I couldn’t envision what was to come, again those plot twists were mind blowing and such gorgeous visuals entailed!
I love the supporting characters too, namely Molly, who was just such a sweetie! Also, the ending of this baby has definitely got me excited and pumped for book 3, I have high expectations, yet I’m going to be sad to see this trilogy come to a close! It’s just such a pleasure to experience, and I’ve loved every moment so far!
Happy Reading,
